Love Note to Self

by Erin Williams on February 15, 2012

Today was is Valentines Day and as well as waking up to this adorable card (and chocolates) from Casey waiting for me with my morning tea

I also received in the mail a love letter written to myself 6 months ago

It didn’t start out as a love letter.  Last August my best friend Lynn and I gathered by the warm poolside with our tea and, sitting under the shade of an umbrella, read each other our letters to ourselves, exchanging them so each could mail the letters to the other to see how far we’d come in our art business goals.

Using the energetic manifestation tool of setting our goals into motion by first forming the thoughts and using the power of the written, then the shared spoken word,  we set our intentions forth into the Universe.

I am truly amazed at how much of it has come true in these 6 short months- pretty much all of my 11 goals.

But what astounds me most, and what I didn’t realize at the time, is that more than anything this is a love letter to myself and that what my art is really about for me is giving and receiving love. That my ultimate goal with my art business is Love.  How appropriate that I received it on Valentines Day.

and my Source is life itself- I did this small one today.

One of the things on my list was to make this guest room into a print room for my etsy shop orders- the etsy shop itself was a goal completed.

So,now I have this room all set up for matting and packaging to ship.  Love being this organized.  Things flow much better.

My Body Bliss gal keeps me in loving company.

and so I blow you a sweet Valentine’s kiss through my art and send wishes for love in your world

What the Wind Brought In

by Erin Williams on January 20, 2012

At the beach show on Sunday, a big gust of wind came up before I’d staked down knocking over this 3 x 4 foot painting, putting a big scrape in it right where the sailboat is.

It didn’t have the sailboat before- it was just a seascape, but you know, it was kinda boring.  I took a cue from the wind coming right off the oceans where the sailboats float poetically and decided it needed this sailboat as a focal point and I really like it.  One of those happy accidents that opens up some creativity and gets you out of your box.

Speaking of getting out of your box, I had a fun little adventure last week when I took the train down to LA

Left the comfort of serene Santa Barbara

and boarded the Pacific Surfliner

gotta love it, so relaxing

I daydreamed, read,

and listened to music on my iphone

my good friend Ana Victorson, artist entrepeneur, picked me up and I stayed at her cute cottage in Studio City. That black fuzz is her friends dog named Fuzz. Yes, we had fun.

Like us she has a passion for all things asian (isn’t that crystal amazing?)

These gold landscapes are her paintings- they go well with the fan and mini sculptures

This fish lamp is to die for

So fitting this chinese figure because that night we went to see Shen Yun, an extraordinary classic chinese dance performance with breathtaking beauty and a dreamlike quality of fantasy and history. I love how the dancers cultivate inner purity and beauty to enhance their creative expression. I believe all artists should strive for this. My appreciation for this performance was enhanced by my now thrice weekly chi gong/tai chi practice and daily meditation based on the Tao.

In the morning Ana climbed in under the covers with me and we talked for hours sipping our green tea, basking in the glow of chinese loveliness. It was a magical getaway~

Pools of light

November 6, 2011

IMG_1677

The Ocean’s reflections outside my window provide an ever changing living landscape that is enthralling and exquisite. I wish I could capture it in my paintings, but it is so very illusive- that is the beauty of water and light interacting. The night time shows are particularly stunning but impossible to capture, even in a [...]

Fall Change

October 29, 2011

A 496101

This is my latest painting which I had originally titled “Fall Charge” which is the feeling in the air this time of year here on the south central California coast.  Though calm, quiet and serene,  there is not a really evidence of decay and dying like other places I have lived. Yesterday was close to [...]
